Description

This project was heavily inspired by the themes and visual language of Cyberpunk 2077, sparked by my own personal love for the game. It is a direct response to the creeping dread of our actual timeline looking more and more like a cyberpunk dystopia. Drawing heavily on foundational sci-fi media, PREY explores themes of hyper-capitalist oppression and pervasive moral ambiguity. The story anchors on a dark, physical transformation, following an enigmatic figure as she is taken apart and reconstructed. The transition from person to weapon captures that specific feeling of anger and powerlessness when staring down a future where people are just raw material for the corporate machine.

The visual direction draws from iconic title sequences like Westworld, Ghost in the Shell, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Together, they inspired the stark contrast, biomechanical focus, and heavy graphic weight of the final piece.

The core visual identity was then grounded in the actual world of Cyberpunk 2077 by sourcing technology and designs directly from the game. Midjourney was utilized in early preproduction to visualize initial concepts and a baseline aesthetic.

Using the WolvenKit modding tool, 3D assets were extracted straight from the game files. Those raw models were then translated, posed, and prepared in Blender to make them usable for high-fidelity animation.

The primary animation and look development were executed in Cinema 4D, with a heavy emphasis on realistic diegetic lighting. To further ground the realism, in-universe corporate logos were recreated and applied as custom stickers and engravings.

After Effects was used to clean up the game-optimized topology for close-up renders and to dial in the final visual effects. The atmosphere was then finalized by assembling a dense, immersive soundscape using online libraries.

This sequence breaks down the evolution of the look development. It highlights the progression from early animation tests to more advanced lighting setups, material experimentation, and scene building.

The completed style frames showcase the final integration of all 3D assets, compositing techniques, and lighting experiments into a unified sequence.
