Description

A game library is a living archive of where you’ve been and what’s next. Backloggd provides the architecture to turn that sprawl into a curated social experience. This project is a total speculative renovation of the platform’s visual identity, reimagining everything from the core logo to the mobile interface and social presence. I developed a system rooted in gaming’s legacy—using a palette inspired by iconic titles and typography that balances pixel-era charm with modern precision. It’s a 360-degree overhaul designed to give the gaming community a more intentional place to connect.

Phase 01: Mood & Early Sketches

I started by pulling references from across gaming culture to find the right aesthetic frequency. From there, I jumped into digital sketching, breaking down letterforms to find a core monogram that felt both nostalgic and modern.

Phase 02: Stress-Testing the Systems

Good design is about testing limits. I built out a variety of wordmarks and lockups before committing to three strong directions. Mocking them up made it clear which one had the range to carry an entire platform.

Phase 03: Expanding the Brand

Once the direction clicked, the rest of the ecosystem fell into place. This phase was about scaling the logo out—I designed the basics of the web grid and social posts to make sure everything spoke in the same visual language. Once I was happy with that, I was able to build out the system to scale—from mobile app to member zine.
